Description
This 8 hour course is designed to inform the students about planning strategy for difficult interviews, why people lie and why it's stressful, how human anatomy is affected by stress, verbal and non-verbal indications of deception, how deception stress differs from other motivators, theme development and how to use it, creating a barrier to further deception and using non-verbal behaviors to encourage confessions.
Learning Objectives:
1. Students will be able to define the gravity of verbal vs non-verbal communication
2. Students will be able to define "Munchausen Syndrome" vs "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy"
3. Students will define "theme development" as a viable interview method for obtaining confessions from guilty suspects.
4. Anatomical reasons for signs of stress (deception) indicators
5. Students will be able to identify verbal and non-verbal deception indicators.
6. Students will be able to define the differences between stress of an interviewee who is guilty and stress due to fear, anger or nervousness.
7. Students will be able to define the differences between attitudes of deceptive and truthful people.
8. Students will be able to define the anatomical stress responses regardless of the source of the stress.
9. Students will be able to list the strategic factors important to consider when conducting a difficult interview.
10. Students will be able to define verbal responses to interview questions that are indications of guilt.
11. Students will be able to define proxemics and how it is a part of non-verbal communication.
12. Students will be able to define haptics and how it can affect non-verbal communication.
13. Students will be able to define how Behavioral Analysis Interview questions can be useful in reducing the number of suspects.
14. Students will be able to list Behavioral Analysis questions useful during an interview.
15. Students will be able to define pertinent interview questions
